If you like to get about on foot best of all you will find that our apartments are the perfect base for hiking tours in the impressive mountains of the Texel Group. And those who don’t want to climb up quite so high can enjoy easy hikes along our enchanting irrigation channel paths, or Waalwege.
If you favour cycling, then the extensive cycle path network will take you southwards, towards Bolzano or into the Vinschgau valley. And if you prefer exploring the mountains by mountain bike, there is a multitude of ascents of varying degrees of difficulty in the surrounding area.
Climbers too can really let off steam here. All kinds of climbing of almost every level of difficulty can be found in the immediate vicinity of our farm: from via ferrata and climbing parks to bouldering areas.
Our accommodation in the garden village of Algund is in a peaceful location surrounded by vineyards and orchards yet only 2 kilometres away from the modern spa town of Merano. This makes Algund the perfect base for, among other things, a shopping trip to nearby Merano, a visit to the modern thermal baths and, thanks to the excellent transport links, for fantastic trips throughout South Tyrol.
Merano boasts expansive parks and green promenades, botanical gardens and numerous waterways. The town has an appealing Alpine-Mediterranean atmosphere and the old town has an urbane charm with its medieval arcades and magnificent Belle Epoque buildings. A typical sight is the snow-covered mountain summits and palms along the Passer Promenade.
The Texel Group, a mountain massif in the Central Alps, which is characterised by a wealth of flora and fauna, is located where the Schnalskamm ridge meets the Ötztal Alps.
Starting from Vellau near Algund, this hike leads high up to the Spronser Lakes. These Alpine mountain lakes lie at the heart of the Texel Group Nature Reserve and provide a unique experience of nature.
